Pilates is used to improve such conditions as scoliosis, arthritis, low back pain and sciatica to name a few. This system reshapes and aligns the body, builds true core strength, increases flexibility, posture, coordination, and promotes a healthy focused mind. All of these features create an excellent anti-aging conditioning system.

For these reasons choreographers - Baryshnikov, Balanchine, Martha Graham and Jerome Robbins - were among the first to use the Pilates Method to keep themselves and their dancers injury free. Since its elite beginnings at "Joe's Studio" Pilates has expanded to a wider public. Sports franchises, such as the 49ers and the Cincinnati Bengals benefit from Pilates as well as top athletes including Olympic skater Kristi Yamaguchi, and tennis star Martina Navratilova. Celebrities Naomi Campbell, Susan Sarandon, Uma Thurman, Tom Hanks, Danny Glover, and Bill Murray also use the Method.​
